Showing off at the party

This weekend a coworker of mine was having what she calls a "Fall Fandango."  Brian was out doing his thing with his friends so I brought the girls to the party with me.  A friend of mine rode with me as well (about a 45 minute drive) and helped me get the girls in/out of the house and helped keep an eye on them.

The girls have really been doing "new" things lately, but they sure were showing off at the party!!  Evy has taken 3 steps, but I had yet to see her just stand on her own.  Well, she did that yesterday!!  Charlotte usually just sits down instead of trying to walk over to different items (from the couch to the table that was 1-2 steps away) and yesterday she did!!

The girls really enjoyed eating their own bowl of "pub mix" snack (pretzels, rye crisps, etc.) that was sitting on the coffee table in the living room.  They just went round and round grabbing snacks out, throwing them on the floor, picking them up, eating them, etc.  At one point Charlotte had a pretzel in her mouth... she took it out and said what really sounded like, "I like this."  Two of my friends were there as witnesses and they said the same thing!  It was pretty insane!!  I can't be sure if she said that or not, but it sure sounded like she did.  :)  I guess she likes pretzels!

Charlotte and Evelyn had such a fun time.  They are not shy in the least and didn't mind people they didn't know picking them up and playing with them.  They especially liked the hostess' dad that was feeding them a puffed popcorn type snack.  They just loved all the attention they got at the party.  I brought a pack n play with the hopes that they would fall asleep, but they were still awake at 9pm when we finally left the party.  They did get a little cranky, but overall were such troopers.  I think they were having so much fun that they didn't want to go to sleep and miss out on anything.  As soon as we got into the car though, it was a snooze fest.  When we got home I brought them in, put them to bed and they didn't even put up a fight... they were soooo tired!

I get so many compliments on how well behaved the girls are.... but then everybody just says "oh give it a while and see if they are still good."  Well, its been just about a whole year and they are still the most amazing girls I have ever been around. :)  I just hope the next set is just as calm and well behaved!! :D

Three Steps!!

Today my little Evy took three steps all on her own!!! I was sitting on the floor playing with them and Evy was walking along the edge of the table hanging on. She stopped and was standing right across from me.   I held out my arms and said, "Come to mama" and she did!!! I then proceeded to yell for Brian since he was in the other room.... and she cried.  Poor little girl!   I hope I didn't scare her out of walking again :)

Brian's SURPRISE 30th Birthday Party!

I threw Brian a surprise birthday party last weekend.  I couldn't have done it without our friends Nick and Sherrie!!!  They came up with a plan to get him out of the house for a few hours and Sherrie and her girls helped me finish cleaning the house and do all of the shopping.  Pulling off a party at your own house is no easy task!! Especially when you don't normally clean the house that much and all of the sudden you are like cleaning bathrooms and doing crazy things like that :)

Brian really had no idea about the party even though he says that he was suspicious of random things I did.  But I think I was pretty clever! AND a good secret keeper for once.  I am usually terrible with secrets.

Waiting for the guest of honor to arrive

13 week NT scan!

We had the twins' first trimester screening and NT scan on Wednesday, September 5th when I was exactly 13 weeks!  Baby A was measuring 14 weeks 0 days and Baby B was measuring 13 weeks 3 days.  Brian initially thought he wasn't going to be able to make it to the appointment because he had training at work, but they let him go a little bit early to make the appointment!  One of the professors in his department also just announced that she is having twins as well and is due a couple weeks before we are.  She went to the same fertility clinic as well!

We got to see the little ones for a good hour or so and it was such a relief!  I always get so worried right before the appointment and I know there is no need for that.  Its so fun to watch them wiggle around, move their arms/legs and even stick their tongues out!! I can't remember which baby it was, but it was super cute to watch.

After the ultrasound I met with a different doctor than I usually see because my doc was all booked up for that day.  Brian didn't stay for the follow up because his back was really hurting and his parents were at our house watching the girls.  It was interesting to meet with someone new with a new perspective on things.  She asked me about what I was planning to do about the birth, etc.  I said that I didn't know yet and that I really didn't want to make a decision super early because who knows if I will really have a choice in the matter.  She also asked if I planned on having more kids and I said that it was a possibility because I still have 3 frozen embryos that I need to do something with.  After I said that, she proceeded to scare the crap out of me and tried to talk me out of having another c-section.  She said that the risks go up exponentially with repeat c-sections.... risks include bleeding out, needing an emergency hysterectomy, and well death of course.  I was a little shocked to hear her be so adamant about trying to do a vaginal birth but I guess its good to have all the information.  The one thing I seriously hated about the previous c-section was the epidural.  I did not like the feeling that I couldn't move at all... and the anesthesiologist was a total jerk.  She did say that when you are laboring for a vaginal birth that they can make the epidural much lighter so that you can at least move your legs and such.  I don't know.  I suppose if both babies are in the perfect position to come out the old vajayjay then maybe I will give that a shot.  If not, I'm not totally opposed to another c-section.  It would be nice though to be able to lift my girls a lot sooner and with a c-section that would take quite a lot more time.

Speaking of which, the girls are doing just fabulous!  I can't say how much I miss them since I have gone back to work though.  Its been very difficult to leave their cute little faces every morning.  I know they are in good hands but it doesn't make it any easier.  Oh, and they will be 1 year old in just about 3 weeks!! This past year has been absolutely a dream come true!

Oh, and I can't forget to mention that we got a sneak peak at their little "parts!!" Nothing is for sure at this point, but it looks like daddy might be getting what he asked for! Check out the pictures! :)
