Brian's SURPRISE 30th Birthday Party!

I threw Brian a surprise birthday party last weekend.  I couldn't have done it without our friends Nick and Sherrie!!!  They came up with a plan to get him out of the house for a few hours and Sherrie and her girls helped me finish cleaning the house and do all of the shopping.  Pulling off a party at your own house is no easy task!! Especially when you don't normally clean the house that much and all of the sudden you are like cleaning bathrooms and doing crazy things like that :)

Brian really had no idea about the party even though he says that he was suspicious of random things I did.  But I think I was pretty clever! AND a good secret keeper for once.  I am usually terrible with secrets.

13 week NT scan!

We had the twins' first trimester screening and NT scan on Wednesday, September 5th when I was exactly 13 weeks!  Baby A was measuring 14 weeks 0 days and Baby B was measuring 13 weeks 3 days.  Brian initially thought he wasn't going to be able to make it to the appointment because he had training at work, but they let him go a little bit early to make the appointment!  One of the professors in his department also just announced that she is having twins as well and is due a couple weeks before we are.  She went to the same fertility clinic as well!

We got to see the little ones for a good hour or so and it was such a relief!  I always get so worried right before the appointment and I know there is no need for that.  Its so fun to watch them wiggle around, move their arms/legs and even stick their tongues out!! I can't remember which baby it was, but it was super cute to watch.

After the ultrasound I met with a different doctor than I usually see because my doc was all booked up for that day.  Brian didn't stay for the follow up because his back was really hurting and his parents were at our house watching the girls.  It was interesting to meet with someone new with a new perspective on things.  She asked me about what I was planning to do about the birth, etc.  I said that I didn't know yet and that I really didn't want to make a decision super early because who knows if I will really have a choice in the matter.  She also asked if I planned on having more kids and I said that it was a possibility because I still have 3 frozen embryos that I need to do something with.  After I said that, she proceeded to scare the crap out of me and tried to talk me out of having another c-section.  She said that the risks go up exponentially with repeat c-sections.... risks include bleeding out, needing an emergency hysterectomy, and well death of course.  I was a little shocked to hear her be so adamant about trying to do a vaginal birth but I guess its good to have all the information.  The one thing I seriously hated about the previous c-section was the epidural.  I did not like the feeling that I couldn't move at all... and the anesthesiologist was a total jerk.  She did say that when you are laboring for a vaginal birth that they can make the epidural much lighter so that you can at least move your legs and such.  I don't know.  I suppose if both babies are in the perfect position to come out the old vajayjay then maybe I will give that a shot.  If not, I'm not totally opposed to another c-section.  It would be nice though to be able to lift my girls a lot sooner and with a c-section that would take quite a lot more time.

Speaking of which, the girls are doing just fabulous!  I can't say how much I miss them since I have gone back to work though.  Its been very difficult to leave their cute little faces every morning.  I know they are in good hands but it doesn't make it any easier.  Oh, and they will be 1 year old in just about 3 weeks!! This past year has been absolutely a dream come true!

Oh, and I can't forget to mention that we got a sneak peak at their little "parts!!" Nothing is for sure at this point, but it looks like daddy might be getting what he asked for! Check out the pictures! :)

Father's Day 2012

Yes, I know it is September and Father's day  was in June :)  This has been sitting in my "draft" folder for months because I still need to add photos... well I still haven't added them but it needs to be published :D

I woke up early with the girls this morning around 6am and decided to let Brian sleep.  He got home at 2am from a magic tournament that he won so I didn't want to wake him up too early.

I had to finish his father's day present (a picture frame with the girls' handprints in clay) by printing out a picture to go in the frame.  I uploaded them to Wal.mart's website and had them printed at the store.  They initially said they wouldn't be ready until 11am but after about 2 minutes I got an e-mail saying that they were ready to be picked up!  I almost didn't believe it, so I called the store and sure enough someone answered the phone at 7:48 am and said they were indeed ready to be picked up.

I then had two choices.... pack the girls up and go to the store by myself or wake Brian up.  I really didn't want him to be cranky so I packed the girls up and off we went.  I wasn't exactly sure how I was going to actually shop at the store with two kids (I had to get supplies for our BBQ as well) but I knew I would figure it out.  I ended up putting Charlotte in my Snugli and Evy in the cart.  The girls actually enjoyed looking at one another and playing while we were walking around the store.  The only problem is that I couldn't give them a bottle while they were in those position which eventually was a problem.  About 9am we were just finishing up the shopping and Evy started getting very cranky.  There was a nice gentleman working in produce and he said, "Oh, I bet she needs a banana."  He went over to the bananas, picked out a ripe one and asked if I wanted to give it to her.  She looooves bananas and ate about half of it before we even left the store.  Ha.  He must have been a grandpa or something.

We got back home and Brian was just getting out of bed.  The girls gave him a card that they finger painted, and the picture frame with their handprints in it.  I gave him a couple of t-shirts and a pair of sweats :)

After that, we ate breakfast and hung out for a while.  I ended up going back to the store because we realized that we didn't have a cooler for the BBQ later in the afternoon and Brian wanted a football to toss around with his buddies.

We loaded the girls and all of our gear up and headed out to a park not too far away.  We met up with Brian's friends including the gal that watches our girls during the school year.  It was fun to just hang out and watch all of our kids play.  Four of the kids were tweens so they had a good time playing with the girls and letting mommy and daddy have some adult time.  I even got to eat most of my lunch while it was still hot!!  Speaking of which, we ended up buying a cheapo small portable grill because the park we were going to didn't have one.  Let me just say, that thing took the better part of an hour to put together because it had so many steps and little tiny pieces!! Luckily one of the guys had a screwdriver too..... I figured the thing would just come out of the box ready to grill some dogs.  Boy was I wrong.

We ended up spending about six hours total at the park.  We put the girls in a nice little baby jail with a blankey, their toys, their boyfriend Jax, and the tweens.  I must admit, we stayed out past their bedtime but the fell asleep in the car on the way home and fell asleep relatively quickly when we got home.  I did find a nice surprise when I changed Evy's diaper when we got home..... sand!  It was everywhere!  They just love playing in the sand.

It was a very fun day and it was nice to spend it with our friends.  I feel a little guilty that Brian and the guys organized their own outing, but that's okay.  It was a day to remember!
